Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get my truck learner licence?

In Queensland, you can begin learning to drive a Heavy Rigid (HR) truck as soon as you hold a current car licence. There is no separate learner licence required before starting truck driver training. Simply contact us to book your first lesson and begin learning.

No. Your heavy vehicle licence is issued by Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR). To obtain your licence, you must successfully complete a practical driving assessment conducted by an authorised TMR testing officer.

Every student learns at a different pace. We usually recommend starting with an initial lesson so we can assess your current skill level and determine how much training you may require before sitting your assessment.

We provide training for:

  • HR Non-Synchro Licence
  • HR Non-Synchro Licence in a Day
  • HR Auto Licence in a Day
  • HC Non-Synchro Licence
  • HC Auto Licence in a Day

Our truck driving courses are designed to suit both new and experienced drivers.

A non-synchro gearbox, often called a crashbox or Roadranger, is a constant mesh transmission commonly found in heavy-duty trucks. Learning to operate this type of gearbox allows you to obtain an open class licence and drive a wider range of heavy vehicles.

Yes. We offer selected one-day licence programs for experienced drivers and those completing automatic licence upgrades. These courses include practical training followed by the required assessment on the same day.

No previous truck driving experience is required for many of our courses. We work with complete beginners as well as experienced drivers looking to upgrade their licence class.

Many of our students come from Toowoomba, Brisbane, Charleville and locations throughout Southern Queensland. We also regularly assist drivers travelling from other parts of Australia who require a Queensland heavy vehicle licence.

We provide industry-standard, well-maintained trucks and trailers that reflect the vehicles commonly used across the transport industry. Our fleet includes trucks fitted with both automatic and non-synchro gearboxes.

Booking is simple. Contact us by phone to discuss your licence goals, current experience and preferred training dates. We’ll recommend the most suitable truck driving course and help you get started.
